Glossary

Aqua (deionized water):

Is water that has had all its ions or minerals removed such as sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron, etc. Due to its ultra pure nature, it is often used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry. Water is primarily used in practically all cosmetics and personal care products to dissolve many of the ingredients that impart skin benefits known as actives.

Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice freeze-dried powder:

Has the ability to effectively transport healthy substances through the skin. It is renowned for providing anti-inflammatory, soothing, moisturizing, oxygenating and regenerating benefits.

Arnica montana (arnica) flower extract:

Has powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that help to soothe and calm skin.

Bambusa vulgaris (bamboo) extract:

Silica-rich bamboo water is a wonderful skin exfoliator and conditioner that soothes and leaves skin super-soft.

Avena sativa (oat) kernel gluten-free flour:

Binds easily to skin forming a protective barrier. It also helps hold in moisture and ease inflammation. If that isn’t enough, it cleans your skin, too.

Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil:

Is beneficial for all skin types, especially dry skin conditions. Contains beneficial fatty acids, vitamins A, E and several B vitamins. It is a light, easily absorbed oil best known for its excellent emollient, soothing, softening, re-conditioning and nourishing properties.

Coco-glucoside:

Is a mild vegetable-based surfactant (foaming ingredient) derived from coconut and fruit sugars. It is recognized as a natural ingredient by the Natural Product Association and is certified by Ecocert and is completely biodegradable.

Glyceryl Oleate:

An ester of glycerin and oleic acid from oils that contain high concentrations of oleic acid, such as olive oil. Non-toxic, non-irritating, biodegradable and acts a natural emulsifier and stabilizer for water-in-oil emulsions.

Coco-betaine:

A vegetable derived foaming agent that helps water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed off the skin.

Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate:

Naturally derived from coconut and sustainably sourced palm oils. Unlike SLS, SLSA is completely safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin. It removes oils and bacteria without irritation. What throws people off when they look at these two ingredients is the first two words being identical and from there it’s assumed they must be similar, but they are not.

It is found in many ‘greener’ or more natural formulas to replace the harsher sulfates because of its non-irritating, effective properties.

Disodium laureth sulfosuccinate:

Also known as a surfactant but is not considered a sulfate. It is found in many ‘greener’ or more natural formulas to replace the harsher sulfates because of its non-irritating, effective properties. Extremely gentle to skin and hair even at higher concentrations.

Hydroxyethylcellulose:

Is a plant-derived amino acid used as a preservative, emulsifier, binder and thickener. Cellulose is a natural polysaccharide found in the cell wall of green plants and goes through purification steps to remove the presence of any impurities.

Virgin cocos nucifera (coconut) oil:

Helps to cleanse and remove dead skin cells while moisturizing and soothing skin.

Sodium benzoate:

Is a synthetic preservative approved for use worldwide and is included on the European Union Cosmetics Directive “Positive List” (Europe has banned more than 1,200 ingredients due to safety concerns). It has also been approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare in both rinse-off and leave-in applications. Japan, like Europe, abide by the most stringent criteria in the world concerning what ingredients can be used in personal care products to also keep the product itself free from harmful contamination. Europe´s conform level with the safety data associated with this permitted preservative is clearly reassuring.

Calcium gluconate:

Like gluconolactone, is a preservative derived from gluconic acid (its calcium salt) and is approved by all natural/organic cosmetic certification bodies. Calcium gluconate can also act as an anti-inflammatory and skin conditioning agent.

Benzyl alcohol:

An antimicrobial found in nature such as edible fruit and tea. It is used as a solvent, preservative and fragrance (masking) ingredient at a very low percentage.

Phytic acid:

Naturally present in vegetables and seeds, this potent ingredient provides dual-action exfoliation and skin brightening effects. It helps to inhibit the impact of skin aggressors that can cause dullness, promoting skin clarity and glow.

Cananga odorata (ylang ylang) flower oil:

A natural skin balancer that helps balance dry or oily skin and is beneficial for acne. Meaning "flower of flowers", this oil has a sensual, soothing aroma that is said to be an phrodisiac with a long history as an effective anti depressant and mood lifter.

Citrus paradisi (grapefruit) peel oil:

Used for its uplifting and relaxing effect on the mind which induces positive feelings to help relieve anxiety and stress.

Citrus bergamia (bergamot) oil:

An effective natural skin cleanser that removes dirt and impurities and whose benefits include both calming and uplifting qualities.

Insanely creamy lather and the scent is very uplifting.

I used this to also wash my hair because I had read that salt shampoos detox your hair and scalp. This left my scalp and hair really clean and after blowdrying I noticed my hair was much softer and shinier.

it’s true! this is a body wash AND shampoo. i bought this because I had read the reviews and tend to buy products that can do many things because I have such a tiny shower lol. i had expected my skin to feel soft afterward, but was really surprised my hair felt soft and when dry seemed shinier.

  4. Mom and Lilly / Verified Purchase

I chose this as my free gift to use a baby wash. There is nothing in this for me to worry about when bathing my precious daughter. Just ordered the larger size for me 🙂

  5. Ian Tomlinson / Verified Purchase

I use my wife’s body wash as a shaving gel. When I read on the tube it can be used as a shaving product also, I thought why not? It actually works better than many of the shave gel products I’ve used in the past and leaves my skin soft and smooth. Whatever the smell is of this is I really like it.
